Concierge Nursing Care Explained

Curious about concierge nursing and how Decision Critical can support your healthcare needs? Our FAQ page answers some of the most common questions about our personalized care model, the services we offer, and what you can expect when working with our team. Whether you’re planning for surgery, managing a chronic condition, or caring for a loved one, we’re here to provide clarity and confidence every step of the way.

What is a private duty or concierge nurse?

A private duty nurse is a licensed nurse who provides one-on-one, individualized care to a patient, usually in the patient’s home, but sometimes in hospitals or long-term care facilities. Unlike hospital or facility staff nurses, private duty nurses are hired specifically to care for one person, often through a private arrangement, a concierge service, or a home care agency. With concierge nursing, we take it one step further. This model emphasizes convenience, privacy, and tailored care, often appealing to individuals who want high-touch, white glove, luxury-level health support.

What healthcare services do your concierge nurses provide?

Services include but are not limited to medication management, injections, IV hydration, IV medication administration, Post-partum mother-baby care, transitional care for newborns, pediatrics, chronic care management, Nurse Case Management, assisted physician office visits, post-operative recovery care, health monitoring and education, travel nursing and health companionship, preventative care and lifestyle coaching, wound care, elderly care, end of life care. You can learn more about our services here.

Do you accept insurance?

As a private pay service, we do not accept insurance. However, some long term care plans allow you to submit for reimbursement, so always double check with your insurance provider if you are not sure. We also accept HSA and FSA cards. Feel free to reach out to us directly if you have questions on how to get IV medication infusions covered by insurance.

Can I use my FSA/HSA card to pay for services?

Yes, you may use FSA/HSA cards to pay for any of our services, including IV Hydration and B12 Injection Therapy.

Does Decision Critical have a minimum amount of hours that have to be booked?

Yes, all nurse visits require a minimum of 2 hours booked per visit. This helps ensure that our nurses always have ample time to provide the thorough, exceptional care you expect from us!

If you foresee needing several hours of care beyond the 2 hour minimum, you may want to consider one of our nursing care packages. These packages are designed around some of the most commonly requested care needs we serve including Post Operative Care, 24 Hour Acute Care, Elderly Care, and Ongoing Chronic Diagnosis management.

Will I have a chance to meet my nurse before they start care?

Our nurses offer a complimentary phone call 24 hours before care is scheduled. If you or your loved one would like to meet the care team, we are more than happy to arrange this meeting at DC HQ.

How many hours of nursing care do you think I’ll need after my surgery?

Every surgery is different and every surgeon has different post-operative orders. Please call our office at 225-320-1201 to discuss the best nursing care plan for you.

Is Concierge Nursing similar to home health services, or do you work with home health companies and palliative/hospice companies?

We work very closely alongside those services to fill in the gaps in care. It is normal to have home health or hospice care and also use our nursing services for any additional care you may need.

Once I hire a Decision Critical concierge nurse, do I have access to communicate with them whenever I need?

Yes, you will have access to your private nurse or someone on the care team as needed.

Does Decision Critical offer sitter services?

We do not offer sitter services. However, we work alongside multiple caregiver agencies. Call our office and we can guide you on who to call.

I don’t see any spots available on the website, can I still make an appointment?

We do our best to keep our nurses’ availability up to date on our scheduling site, however we always encourage you to reach out if you do not see an appointment time that works for you! We can often accommodate your needs with our on-call nurse, or help you find a resource that works for you.

What is the cancellation policy?

If Client has paid for or any part of a planned service and the scheduled service is cancelled by the Client’s physician, a full refund for the applicable service will be made to the Client within ten (10) days of the cancellation. If Client cancels a service less than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the service, Client will be charged a cancellation fee equal to twenty-five (25%) percent of the service amount.

Does Decision Critical offer transportation services?

Yes, when you book our nursing services, we offer transportation to and from your physician office or home from the hospital or surgery.

How old do you have to be to get IV Hydration?

We are able to provide IV hydration services to all ages. If younger than 16, we may ask for an order from your child’s pediatrician.

Where did the name “Decision Critical” come from?

In healthcare, there are moments when decisions carry extraordinary weight—where timing, precision, and expertise can change everything. These are the decision-critical moments. Moments when families need more than information—they need clarity. When patients need more than care—they need confidence. And when physicians need more than support—they need a trusted extension of their vision. Decision Critical was born from a deep understanding of this urgency. As a boutique Concierge Nursing agency, we exist to stand in the gap during life’s most critical health decisions. Whether managing complex recovery at home, navigating a new diagnosis, or coordinating high-level care across providers, our nurses bring calm, clinical excellence, and compassion right where it’s needed most. We are not simply caregivers—we are clinical advocates, trusted partners, and the steady hands during the moments that matter most. Because when the decision is critical, the care must be exceptional.

Does Decision Critical service outside the BR area?

Yes, we have nurses located in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas. If we do not have a nurse in your location, most of our nurses are willing to travel. If long-term care is needed, we will bring on a local care team to suit your needs.

Are you hiring nurses?

We are always looking to add exceptional nurses to our nurse registry. As a boutique concierge nursing agency, we staff highly specialized nurses poised and ready to deliver white glove in-home private duty nursing care directly to clients in Baton Rouge and beyond. If you are interested in joining our nurse registry, submit the questionnaire on our website or email [email protected] to be considered, including your interest, areas of expertise, and resume. Our team will reach out to schedule a phone interview.
